Congratulations to all of you for the most successful event in our 15 year history. April 17th was a beautiful spring day here in Skagit County which enhanced our endeavor to raise funds for those in need of this Benevolent Program.
Moose Old Skagit Gun Club hosted a Turkey Shoot designed to have fun & foster camaraderie while making a contribution to our community. A collective effort by many companies & organizations made this success possible. Anacortes has a young lady named Pam Johnson, who single handily collected thousands of dollars for the cause. Local businesses supported our efforts greatly; Reisner Distributor, Welch Brothers Construction, S.R.V. Construction, Quantum Construction & Pacific Tank and Body all saw the need & responded. Moose Lodge #1640 from Mount Vernon did a super job of feeding all the participants with a traditional & tasty turkey dinner. Then the Masons from District #9 came out in record numbers to stand with us. We welcomed the Farm & Family Missions Church who took on duties to assist in our undertaking. Granite Falls Sportsman Club mustered a contingent to come up & bolstered our efforts. Although, I think it had more to do with whipping us Skagit folks, they did not succeed. Our very own Brendon Toyama led the winning Pig Shoot Team which is always great fun & fierce competition. At the end of the day our Pay Master drafted a check to Meals on Wheels for $7600.00, an all-time record high. It would be a real understatement to say we’re in tough times; however, a protest of this nature was a breath of fresh air (NO MASK) in our community. Thank all you shooters for a job well done.
