What a wet few weeks we have had.  Hope that everybody is safe and all of your homes are without damage.  After the time we have all had with the upheaval to our lives by COVID and now many of us find ourselves dealing with the after effects of this heavy weather.  Enough!

Many events have transpired at the Gun Club since my last post and  I apologize for not keeping the "News" up to date.  What follows is just a short synopsis of the last few months:
  • Nora Ross held another very successful and highly praised clinic at the club in August and will be back again in the future.  For those of you who have not had the chance to experience one of her clinics they are highly recommended.  Ask around the club and you will find someone who has already taken advantage of her knowledge to give you an overview of what you might expect.
  • In September the PITA Shooter Appreciation Shoot was held.  Attendance was down this year but everybody enjoyed the shoot--and particularly the salmon barbeque.  On the Sunday after was the Buddy Backer.  This event is always fun and a challenge.  Get ready to find yourself another shooter to "Buddy" with for next year.
  • October is always the start of the Winter Handicap Series.  This club shoot is a good way to get started in some friendly competition and to meet new shooters from different clubs.  The format is for two events of 50 targets each--and you can shoot one or both events.  It continues on the first Saturday of the month (except January) through March.
  • October and November are also the months that the FFA trap teams meet at Old Skagit to practice and compete for the Top Regional Team and Individual Titles.  This event could not take place without lots of planning and effort from club volunteers.
  • November is the month for one of our Turkey Shoots.  Every year our shooters, both experienced and new to trap shooting, come out to have some fun, eat some good food, and raise money and accept toys to benefit this holiday "Toys for Tots" tradition.  (More information will be posted soon on the outcome of the fundraising.)

I know that many other things have been happening and if I have missed anything that should be highlighted please contact me by email at [email protected].  Sherry
